FlashDrop technology for fast configuration, new control panel assistants, and hardware upgrades are among a number of enhancements to ABB standard drives. The enhancements are based on feedback from customers and are designed to make the ACS550 drives even easier to commission and use.
FlashDrop is a powerful palm sized tool for fast and easy parameter selecting and setting. It gives the possibility to hide selected parameters to protect the machine.
Only the parameters needed in the application are shown. The tool can copy parameters between two drives or between a PC and a drive. All the above can be done without a power connection to the drive - in fact, it is not even necessary to unpack the drive.
FlashDrop is compatible with ACS 150, ACS 310, ACS 355 and ACS550 products.

ACS550-PC & ACS550-PD
The ABB ACS550 Drive Package with Circuit Breaker (-PC) and Drive Package with Disconnect Switch and Fuses (-PD) offer users high-horsepower NEMA 12 solutions, and lower-horsepower solutions with disconnect options.
The ACS550-PC (with circuit breaker) and ACS550-PD (with disconnect switch and fuses) packages in both NEMA 1 and NEMA 12 are offered up to 60 HP at 480V, and 30HP at 240V. The units are extremely compact and narrow, with a smaller footprint than competitive equivalents. This feature makes them ideal for overcrowded electrical rooms or mezzanines and for mounting right onto a machine or a column on the plant floor.
At the higher horsepower ratings, these new packages make it easy for end users to install additional components in the drive enclosure. There is space for field installation of such components, in wall mount and floor-standing enclosures above 60 HP at 480V and 30 HP at 240V.
The ACS550 with Bypass is an ACS550 AC adjustable frequency drive in an integrated UL Type/NEMA 1, UL Type/NEMA 12, or UL Type/NEMA 3R package with a bypass function configured entirely of standard industrial control components.
SREA-01 Ethernet Adapter with Remote Access
ABB's SREA-01 Ethernet adapter performs all essential remote access tasks. It is designed as an optional remote interface module for ABB industrial drives, standard drives, general machinery drives, DC drives and other ABB products, such as the AC500 PLC. The SREA-01 can send process or drive data and event messages as well as log data to the drive's internal memory, without the need for a PLC or dedicated on-site computer. The module's internal web server ensures smooth access from standard PCs, mobile phones with a web browser, or other telecom devices.
In addition to a standard Ethernet port, the SREA-01 has a serial port for connection to a standard GSM/GPRS modem for Internet connectivity in isolated places. The modem connection can be used for sending e-mail or SMS messages, uploading data files by FTP, or accessing the module web pages.
OTAC-01 Pulse Encoder Module
As a new option, the enhanced standard drives can accommodate an encoder module. Using an encoder for speed feedback is a straightforward way to increase motor control accuracy in many applications.
An assistant control panel is supplied with the drives as standard to guide users through the programming process. Now parameter setting with the panel is even more straightforward, as a new assistant menu structure presents the various options in a clearer format. Five new assistants further improve the control panel functionality.

The R-series fieldbus adapter modules are flexible plug-in adapters that provide fast and simple universal connectivity to all major controllers.
