ABB inductive sensors detect metallic objects at an operating distance of up to 50mm. ABB inductive sensors
are insentive to external influences and are durable for all applications. ABB inductive sensors offer high speed, no contact
sensing at an extremely long life. ABB inductive sensors are standardized owing to their clearly defined characteristic and
operateing conditions and can thus bu used easily. They detect only metallic objects and feature a precisely outlined sensing
range. ABB inductive sensors operate reliably. |
ABB inductive sensors are not impaired by light, noise, non conductive dust or fluids, such as
oil. They detect precisely and without the need for adjustment and also offer largely standardised parameters. There are two parts
which make up the wireless ABB proximity switch: the head of an inductive
sensor in different dimensions and the communication module which is identical for all sensor head variants. The communication
module is connected conventionally to the ABB proximity sensor head like a standard sensor plug.
ABB ultrasonic sensors detect the position of objects with a sound-reflecting surface. ABB ultrasonic sensors
may be used at an operating distance of up to 6 m. ABB ultrasonic sensors are resistant to dust and operate independently of the
colour of the object to be detected.

ABB capacitive sensors detect virtually any material (paper, cardboard, plastic, etc.) at an operating
distance of up to 10 mm. They are also suitable for detection of metallic or fluid objects. They offer high speed, no contact
sensing at an extremely long life. ABB capacitive sensors detect an extremely wide variety of materials, primarily non-metallic
materials, at close range. They can be adapted to a wide variety of conditions of the various object materials by adjustment. ABB
capacitive sensors achieve maximum functionality at low switching frequency. |
ABB photoelectric sensors "see" light-reflecting or opaque objects. ABB photoelectric sensors can also be used
with fiber-optic cable for detection of extremely small objects. ABB photoelectric sensors cover a broad range of application
owing to three operating principles. Accessories for ABB photoelectric sensors extend the scope of possible applications :
Fiber-optic waveguides as an add-on detect extremely small objects and operate at high ambient temperatures or under cramped
installation conditions. Depending on design, ABB photoelectric sensors operate as diffuse reflective sensors or as through beam
photoelectric sensors.
The upstream fiber-optic waveguides defines whether the ABB sensor is to operate as a through beam photoelectric
sensor or as a diffuse reflective photoelectric sensor. ABB sensors with fiber-optic waveguides are used, primarily, to detect
small objects, even under cramped conditions. Depending on design of the fiber-optic waveguide and fiber head, it is possible to
use these systems at high temperatures. Plastic fiber-optic waveguides can be shortened by the user to appopriate length with the
supplied tools.
