Valu-Beam Intrinsically Safe DC Sensors Maxi-Beam Banner Photoelectric Sensors Miniature Self-Contained DC Sensors Distributors
Banner Maxi Beam Sensors are highly versatile, self-contained, modularized photoelectric sensing controls that
are ideally suited to industrial environments. The basic Banner Maxi-Beam is an ON/OFF switch consisting of three modules: a sensor
head, a power block, and a wiring base. The Banner sensor head contains the complete modulated photoelectric amplifier as well as
the emitter and receiver optoelements. A unique, patented, "programming ring" enables you to program your choice of "light" or
"dark" operate mode, sensing range, and response time. Banner Maxi-Beam Sensor heads have an easily-accessible multi-turn
SENSITIVITY control for precise adjustment of system gain. Interchangeable sensor heads are rotatable in 90-degree increments, and
are available in opposed, retroreflective, diffuse, convergent, and fiber optic models. Each sensor head also includes Banner
Engineering's exclusive, patented Alignment Indicating Device, which lights a top-mounted LED when the Banner sensor "sees" its own
modulated light source and pulses at a rate proportional to the received light signal strength.

Valu-Beam SMI912 Series Banner sensors are designed for intrinsically safe operation in hazardous
atmospheres. They are certified by Factory Mutual Research, CSA, and KEMA as being intrinsically safe when used with approved
intrinsic safety barriers. SMI912 Series Banner sensors may be wired for either two- or threewire current-sinking operation. In the
three-wire hookup, which requires two intrinsic-safety barriers, the sink current is 15mA. The two-wire hookup, which requires one
barrier, sinks < 10mA (OFF state) and > 20mA (ON state). |

SMI912 Series Valu-Beam Banner sensors have the rugged, encapsulated construction typical of all Valu-Beam
sensors, along with adjustable sensitivity and switchable light or dark operate. These sensors also include Banner's exclusive
Alignment Indicating Device System, which lights an indicator LED whenever the sensor "sees" its modulated light source, and
pulses at a rate proportional to the received light signal strength. SMI912 Series Banner Engineering intrinsically-safe sensors
are supplied with a 3-pin quick-disconnect cable fitting in their base, and require the use of mating cable model MBCC-312.
Intrinsic safety barriers are available from Banner Engineering. Current trip point amplifier model CI3RC2 is also available.
Due to their small size, right-angle design, and unique shape, this Econo-Beam Banner sensor pair is ideal
for mounting against the side rails of conveyors for use in flow control and product sensing, and are an excellent choice for use
on supermarket checkout stands. They may be bolted face-to-face to form a powerful slot sensor for edgeguiding of opaque materials
or for sensing gear teeth, timing rings, or "flags", with enough excess gain to operate even in the dirtiest sensing
environments. Banner Econo-Beam sensors are ideal for applications where the target's reflectivity and profile are sufficient to
return a large percentage of the emitted light back to the sensor. Divergent diffuse model SE612W is particularly useful for
sensing transparent or translucent objects (clear plastic or glass) and for dependable sensing of irregular surface features; its
excess gain falls off sharply beyond 1". As a result, it may be used when it is necessary to ignore background objects.
