EZ-SCREEN Type 2
Banner EZ-SCREEN Type 2 emitters and receivers provide a redundant, microprocessor-controlled, opposed-mode optoelectronic "curtain of light", or "light screen". EZ-SCREEN Type 2 typically is used for point-of-operation safeguarding, and is suited to safeguard a variety of lower-risk machinery.
The EZ-SCREEN Type 2 is a two-piece (two-box) system comprising an emitter and a receiver, but no external controller. The external device monitoring (EDM) function ensures the fault detection capability required by EN ISO 13849-1 Category 2.
The EZ-SCREEN Type 2 emitters have a row of synchronized modulated infrared (invisible) light emitting diodes (LEDs) in a compact metal housing. Receivers have a corresponding row of synchronized photodetectors. The light screen created by the emitter and receiver is called the defined area; its width and height are determined by the length of the sensor pair and the distance between them. The maximum range is 15 m (50 ft), which decreases if corner mirrors are used. Resolution is 30 mm (1.18 in). Both emitter and receiver feature LEDs to provide continuous indication of the System's operating status, alignment and error conditions.
Type 3 Safety Laser Scanners
Banner Engineering's AG4 Series Laser Scanners are two-dimensional safety laser scanners that effectively protect personnel and stationary or mobile systems within a user designated area as well as provide access protection for AGS gates on a robot cell. Five LEDs on the housing front show the Scanner's operating status.
The Banner AG4 Safety Laser Scanner (the Scanner) is an optical, two-dimensional measuring Safety Laser Scanner. The Scanner emits periodic light pulses via a rotating deflection mirror. The light pulses reflect back from objects in the sensing field and are then detected by the Scanner receiver. The Scanner calculates the precise position of an obstruction from the light travel time and the pulse's emitted angle. If the obstruction is within the user-defined Protective Field (PF), the Scanner switches the safety outputs OFF.
Safety Interlock Switches
Safety interlock switches respond when a mechanical guard opens. Interlock switches feature "positive opening" contacts for high reliability regardless of environmental conditions and withstand attempts to override the switch and defeat the system.
Three-component magnet-style SI-MAG series switches tolerate dirt buildup, washdowns, long sensing distance and shifts in alignment. SI Series Safety Limit (position) Switches expand solutions for monitoring the position of a wide variety of guards, gates, covers and other movable machine fixtures/tooling. Locking style switches lock a mechanical guard until hazardous motion stops completely. All models offer a choice of locking mechanisms and operating voltages.
Small switches housed in plastic are available in limit switch and flat-pack styles, with a choice of actuators. Load-bearing hinge, rotary and standard hinge style switches provide an adjustable range of operation. Small switches housed in metal are available in limit switch and trumpet styles, with a choice of actuators. EZ-LIGHT SI-K30Lxxx7P is available in three models for the purpose of indicating an open/stopped interlocked guard (red), and an armed/closed interlocked guard (green or off).
