ABB's World-First Integrated DC Circuit Breakers

The ABB SACE Emax DC circuit breaker integrates in a single unit a broad range of advanced monitoring, protection and control functions that were previously performed by external devices. It is the only breaker of its kind on the global market. The innovation takes DC current breakers into another dimension, eliminating the disadvantages and limitations of existing breaker alternatives. These are either integrated (but do not offer advanced functionality) or non-integrated, in which case they require separate devices like the trip unit and shunts to be installed in the switchboard.

Emax DC, on the other hand, combines in a single breaker the trip unit, current and voltage sensors and connections, as well as a comprehensive range of advanced protection, measurement, communication, automation, diagnostic and HMI (Human Machine Interface) functions. It is compact, saving space in the switchboard (no external devices required), and is factory tested, certified and compliant with all main electrical standards. Because of its extensive functionality and integrated components, Emax DC Circuit Breakers offer better performance characteristics than existing breakers.

High Temperature Factor 1 Sensors for Washdown Environments

TURCK's line of uprox+ Factor 1 sensors now include IP 69k rated washdown versions with temperature ratings from -40 to 100 C. These sensors are highly resilient to the high-pressure cleaning agents often found in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries.

The sensors incorporate durable 316 stainless steel construction and a liquid crystal polymer front cap that aids in resisting moisture ingress. It also consists of a polypropylene cable jacket that stands up to harsh chemicals and extreme temperatures.

Uprox+ Sensors feature longer sensing ranges for detecting all metals, including non-ferrous metals such as stainless steel, at the same rated distance. This is especially useful in applications like food and beverage where the targets are often made from stainless steel.

The increased temperature rating has been made possible by upgrading the circuit board and switching the cable jacket from standard PVC material. For those customers who would like to continue using PVC cable, we now offer it as a special with a */S50. However, the new extended temperature ratings will not apply to units built with PVC cable.

The BCL 500i bar code reader series from Leuze Electronic is not only flexible in application due to its outstanding versatility, but also offers integrated field bus connectivity for fast and simple implementation. The unique webConfig software permits convenient device commissioning.

The wide range of different bar code reader variants offered by Leuze electronic guarantees maximum flexibility for a wide range of applications. Users can choose between three lens variants for different modular widths from 0.25 mm through to 1.0 mm. Leuze Barcode Readers are available with identical scanning fields as line scanners and also in the form of the latest-generation swivel mirror or deflecting mirror versions. The high-performance lens of the BCL 500i features a symmetrical ±30° optical angle of aperture and provides scope for an extensive scanning field aperture with a high depth of field even at close range.

With communication interfaces PROFIBUS or Ethernet TCP/IP built into in the device, as well as integrated webConfig parameterization software, fast implementation and extreme handling convenience are assured when commissioning in existing networks. As previously, the new devices offer two serial interfaces for RS 232 or RS 422 and RS 485. In addition, Leuze's own internally developed multiNet is also available to facilitate networking. Integrated field bus connectivity radically simplifies wiring for the user and almost always results in a higher data rate, as it eliminates the bottleneck caused by additional gateways.
