Yaskawa

The Drives & Motion Division of Yaskawa America, Inc. announces the release of NEMA 4X/IP66 versions of the V1000 current vector motor microdrive family. Each V1000-4X drive is supplied with an integral enclosure that meets NEMA type 4X/12 indoor use requirements, UL type 4X/12 standards and the IP66 rating of IEC 60529.

Yaskawa Releases V1000 Drive with NEMA 4X/IP66 Packaging

Each enclosure provides the protection required in tough washdown or dust-tight environments common in food and beverage processing, packaging, metal machining, woodworking, pumping, refrigeration and printing applications. Each enclosure is epoxy-coated to protect against the harmful effects of sanitizing chemicals commonly used in food and other industries.

Designing a dust-tight, water-tight and corrosion-resistant enclosure for a motor drive requires numerous calculations to ensure proper heat dissipation and maintain internal temperatures at or below designated levels. For many manufacturers and OEMs-the cost to design, assemble and test an enclosure to house a motor drive can exceed the cost of the drive itself. The V1000-4X drive family cuts these costs to zero, and also provides the smallest viable form factor for each drive option.

The V1000-4X drive family is available in 200-240VAC Single Phase 50/60 Hz, 200-240VAC Three Phase 50/60 Hz and 380-480VAC Three Phase 50/60 Hz ratings. Single-phase drives are available in 1/8 to 5 hp sizes. Three-phase drives are available in 1/8 to 25 hp sizes.

All drives are supplied with a number of standard features including function-block diagram programming, fast 2-ms scan cycle time and starting torque of 200% at 0.5 Hz. Modbus communication is standard-and Profibus-DP, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP/IP communications are available as options.

The built-in multifunction digital inputs and outputs, function-block diagram programming software and full-featured operator interface can allow the drive to operate as the main controller in many applications. Purchasing the drive with its integral enclosure means that no additional hardware design is required to apply the drive as the main controller, reducing design and installation costs to only programming and on-site installation wiring.

The Drives & Motion Division of Yaskawa America, Inc. announces the release of the A1000 variable speed drive, a full featured drive, providing outstanding quality, performance, flexibility, and environmental friendliness through 1000HP. For new installations or retrofits, the A1000 provides a single robust solution, regardless of your application.

Exceptional quality is the hallmark of Yaskawa products. This is demonstrated no better than in the new A1000, having a calculated design life that is twice as long as previous generations. Compatibility with interior and surface permanent magnet motors provides highly efficient, precision control with incredible performance, producing up to 200% torque with or without feedback.

User-friendly configuration tools, including a multi-language LCD display, parameter storage, application presets, and a portable USB copy unit make programming and configuration simple. DriveWizard computer software delivers configuration, monitoring, and trending functions enhanced by direct connectivity through the A1000's standard USB port.

A significant quantity of control points are included as standard. For applications requiring more functionality, the A1000 offers three expansion ports for additional I/O, feedback, and network communications, including DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus-DP, PROFINET, and MECHATROLINK-II. Embedded applications functions, such as PID control, droop control, and function block programming provide system level control without the use of a stand-alone controller.

Energy efficiency is maximized with variable speed control, and A1000's integrated DC reactors reduce harmonic demand from the power system, contributing to a cleaner environment. Additionally, all materials used in the A1000 comply with the directive for Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).

The A1000 drive is available in 200-240VAC Three Phase 50/60 Hz (up to 175 HP), 380-480VAC Three Phase 50/60 Hz (up to 1000 HP), and 500-600VAC Three Phase 50/60Hz (up to 250 HP) ratings. In addition, the A1000 is designed for use around the world, and carries agency certifications for all major geographical regions.

The P1000 drive provides simple, reliable, cost-effective control for variable-torque loads through 500 HP and planned expansion through 1000 HP later this year. Specific application features, energy savings, and network connectivity make the P1000 a great choice for industrial fans and pumps.

The "480V, three-level inverter architecture" of the Yaskawa G7 solves high-performance speed, torque, and position-control applications. Increased speed and torque response is said to provide servo-like motor control; and a new open-loop control method produces true torque control without an encoder. Three-level power architecture reportedly limits detrimental voltage-switching effects of IGBT power-switching devices to 50% the dv/dt value of conventional PWM drives. Yaskawa G7 drive simplifies 480-V installation and provides enhanced system protection.

This technology also solves major installation and reliability concerns in industrial plants, for example: long cable length between motor and drive; induced shaft bearing current; EMI/RFI radiation; common mode currents; audible noise; and surge voltages, according to Yaskawa.

G7 drives come in a 0.5 to 500-hp power range. Drive programming is DriveWorksEZ Yaskawa's PC-based, object-oriented graphical icon programming tool.
