Weidmuller Relays

The MCZ TRAK Components, which have been developed for the rail industry to comply with the requirements of EN 50155 and EN 61373, are a special highlight. All components have been specially designed to function reliably in temperatures ranging from -40 to +70 °C (and +85 °C for ten minutes). The MCZ TRAK components feature a painted switching element that protects it from condensation which occurs from temperature fluctuations.

LEESON Reducers

Hollow Output Shaft mounting is standard at no extra cost. Reduces total drive envelope size, weight and cost. Solid shaft single and double output is available. When size and weight are critical requirements in your power transmission package, the Grove Gear Quadro Aluminum Worm Gear reducer offers an ideal solution. The Quadro is up to one third smaller than alternatives and features an aluminum alloy housing making it a compact

Directive 94/9/EC or ATEX lays down new regulations for explosion protection in all types of devices for the European market. This directive applies to gearmotors and motors. As of July 1, 2003, Directive 94/9/EC applies without restrictions to the use of gearmotors and motors within the European Union. Other European countries, such as Switzerland, have since come into line with this regulation.

If you are looking for SEW Eurodrive Explosion-Proof Drives, please call us on (844) 331-9373 or email us at we will do our best to help you find the SEW Eurodrive Explosion-Proof Gearmotors that you are looking for at the most competitive prices possible. SEW-EURODRIVE now only supplies explosion proof gearmotors and motors in accordance with the corresponding ATEX Directive. The same applies to explosion-proof options and accessories. Depending on their features and dimensions, explosion-proof gearmotors and motors are suitable for:

  • Potentially explosive atmospheres (gas), zone 1 or 2.
  • Potentially explosive atmospheres (dust), zone 21 or 22.

Operating systems and machines in areas with potentially explosive air/gas or air/dust mixtures requires special measures. If mixture formation cannot be prevented, specially protected drives must be used. Appropriate regulations and standards regulate the use of tools and fixtures in danger zones. They also prescribe the quality prerequisites that must be met by drive manufacturers. An overview of the advantages this combination offers compared to an AC asynchronous motor in explosion protection "d" (EN 60079-1; flameproof enclosure):

  • High efficiency
  • Lighter weight
  • Shortest possible delivery times, high availability
  • Certified for operation with frequency inverters from SEW-EURODRIVE
  • Suitable for pump and fan drives
  • Delivery from one source, from a manufacturer that offers both components itself

It is important to observe and comply with guidelines particularly in areas containing potentially-explosive air/gas and gas/dust mixtures. Thanks to many years of experience and competence in this area, SEW-EURODRIVE ensures that the relevant guidelines are observed. Furthermore, the company's expertise is continually being expanded to include new and further developments.

This basic type of approval was implemented for all 4-pole motors of category 2 from SEWEURODRIVE and certificates of all eDT and eDV motors are now available. These new approvals for the motors were performed according to the new European standards applicable to explosion protection: Gas (EN 60079-0; EN 60079-7) and dust (EN 61241-0; EN 61241-1).

These motors meet the requirements for equipment intended for use in potentially-explosive areas of category 2 as defined in directive 94/9/EC (ATEX 95). A device for direct temperature monitoring in combination with the defined operating parameters of the frequency inverter offers the best possible protection against excessive heating caused by an overload.
