SEW Eurodrive helical, parallel shaft helical, helical-bevel and helical-worm gear units are equipped with an input shaft assembly. The input shafts have inch dimensions. Metric dimensions are provided on request. The end of the input shaft has a tapped hole to aid in mounting drive components. The bearings of the input shaft are lubricated by grease. Natural Buna Rubber oil seals and o-ring seals are used for sealing the cover. The rugged bearings of the input shaft permit high overhung loads. Consult your SEW Eurodrive assembly facility if oil bath lubricated bearings are required.

AM adapters are used for mounting motors built according to the IEC standard or NEMA(design C or TC) on to SEW Eurodrive helical, parallel shaft helical, helical-bevel and helical-worm gear units. Adapters for NEMA Motors are available for sizes 56 to 365. Adapters for IEC motors are available for sizes 63 to 280. The designation of the adapter size corresponds to the relevant NEMA Or IEC Motor size.

Torque is transmitted between the motor and the gear unit via a positive shock resistant jaw-type coupling. Vibrations and shocks which occur during operation are cushioned by an inserted polyurethane annular gear.
