1285T Series Surface Mount with Terminals

The Sentrol 1285T Series surface mount magnetic contact is ideal for residential and commercial applications where terminal connects are preferred. The unit features Sems style terminals that have selflifting washers and captured screws to prevent the screws from backing out. The screws have combination heads that accept either Phillips or flat blade drivers. The terminals are angled away from the mounting surface to allow for quick and easy installation. Snap-on covers conceal the terminals and mounting screws for a clean professional appearance. Wide gap, SPDT, and high security models are available.

Select desired mounting positions for contact and magnet. IMPORTANT: Align contact and magnet as directed on magnet base (switches are polarity sensitive). Attach contact and magnet to surface. Wire leads to terminals. Snap on cover.

The 1285T Series contact shall be a magnetic reed contact switch. Lead connection to contact shall be through No. 6 screw terminals angled 45° to provide easy access. A plastic cover shall be provided to protect the screw terminals and to discourage tampering. The contact shall be 2.54" (6.51 cm) W x 0.545" (1.39 cm) L x 0.690" (1.77 cm) D. The magnet shall be 1.74" (4.45 cm) L x 0.595" (1.52 cm) W x 0.545" (1.39 cm) D. Mounting holes shall be on 2.094" (5.33 cm) centers. Lock-pin spacers shall be provided that lock into the base of the contact and magnet, and which lock together to raise the contact or magnet from the surface for optimal alignment. Color shall be natural or mahogany brown.

Mount contact in desired location. Attach ohmmeter to "closed" loop and "common" terminals. Meter should read INFINITY with magnet away from contact. Match up contact and magnet alignment arrows. Bring magnet toward contact until meter reads 0 ohms. Mark this point and continue bringing magnet towards contact until meter again reads INFINITY. Mark this point, and position the magnet between these two marks. With magnet positioned correctly, contact shall have balanced operation and will be more difficult to defeat if an external magnet is used in such an attempt.
