 ABB Low Voltage |
ABB Controls has introduced a new motor protection relay, the M102. The M102 ABB Smart Relay is part
of the INSUM range of motor protection products and is specifically targeted to meet some of the unique requirements of
the mining industry, water treatment plants, wastewater applications, general process industry, cement industry and food
processing industry. The M102 ABB Smart Relay is easy to operate, connects easily to any control system and is fully type
tested to Australian standards.
|
It uses standard communication cables, can be programmed both remotely and via the control system and is also
suitable as part of a retrofit solution. There are two options of protocols used for interfacing with the upper level control
system - the Modbus RTU and Profibus DP. The redundant ports provided in the M102 ABB Smart Relays with Modbus RTU protocol makes
it possible to build up the stable redundancy communication network. In addition, the M102 ABB Smart Relay is able to continuously
collect and relay data without interrupting processes, providing timely and accurate protection by giving fault alarm and
protection trip to safeguard motors and ensure a smooth production process.
ABB has a fully trained team in North America to provide local service to remote mining sites. Our experience
is at both field level as well as our local installed base covering both the mining and water treatment industries.
The Motor Protection Relays are designed to protect electrical equipment
against thermal overload, motor stall, phase failure, phase imbalance, no load, overload, earth fault and motor overheat, with a
focus on providing comprehensive and dedicated protection for motors. Thermal overload protection keeps track of and calculates
the thermal capacity of the motor in operation. This protects the motor against overheating, which can shorten the service life
of the motor or damage it. Additionally, the thermal memory function of the thermal overload protection is particularly important
in cases where frequent starting is required. The M102 ABB Smart Relay unit simulates the thermal conditions in all operating
states of the motor which maximises its use on the premise of safe operation.
FL1C Idec SmartRelay is no longer just a timer/counter replacement, but is now equipped with the functionality
of a micro PLC. Idec Izumi has found that customers require a more
sophisticated controller that is reasonably priced and is easy to program like Idec Smart Relays. The FL1C Idec Smart Relay meets
that requirement! Multiple inputs provide direct communication with pushbuttons, sensors, switches, etc. The
FL1C-B12RCE/H12RCE/H12SND Idec SmartRelays can accept either digital or analog inputs and can also accept high-speed inputs up to
2Khz. It can also be expanded through the use of I/O modules to a maximum of 32 inputs (24 digital and 8 analog).
|
Some of the improved features on FL1C Idec Smart Relay include a 32-bit processor that provides faster scan
time, double the program memory, and 130 function blocks for programming. The number of counters and timers that can be programmed
into the Idec Smart Relay is unlimited. Think of all the components that you can replace with just one Idec SmartRelay. FL1C Idec
Smart Relay has a 4 x 12 character backlit LCD screen, shift registers, and cursor keys that can be configured as inputs.
|
In addition, with the new memory cartridge, you can define the system security allowing for more flexibility and
versatility for FL1C Idec Smart Relays. Seven different base modules are available for FL1C Idec Smart Relay with voltage ranges
from 12V DC, 24V AC/DC to 100-240V AC/DC. Each FL1C Idec Smart Relay CPU module has 12 built-in I/O points (8 inputs/4 outputs), a
real-time clock, and calendar. There are five available expansion I/O modules and two communication modules, which work with any
FL1C series Idec SmartRelay CPU. THere are combination I/O modules with 4 input and 4 output points. There are also LonWorks and
AS-Interface communication modules, and a 2-point analog input module for FL1C Idec Smart Relays. Maximum I/O configuration for the
FL1C Idec SmartRelay is 24 digital inputs, 16 digital outputs, and 8 analog inputs.
Pro-Face Xycom Pro-IO 2 Smart I/O Modules for Logic Relays features include easy to program and low cost. Relay Sequence Function: Basic ON/OFF control of a
lamp, pump, etc. after receiving an input (a contact, b contact) such as a button or switch, Complex input conditions can also be
made combining AND circuits, OR circuits, etc. Counter Function: With this function an incoming signal is counted and made
a pre-set value. Example: On a product manufacturing line defective products can be detected and counted by a photoelectric sensor.
Analog (certain models only): This function
inputs the analog signals of two points, temperature, pressure, etc., and outputs a result of the comparison of the two points and
a set value. Example: If temperatures rises too high in a greenhouse, a window will be opened automatically. Timer Function:
After receiving an incoming signal, unit waits a pre-set amount of time, then sends output. Example: A washing machine switch is
pushed, washing is started, and it stopped after 40 seconds. Calender Function: This output function allows scheduling of
regular events, such as weekly or daily. Example: Equipment can be prepared for operation, such as having pre-heating every day at
6:00am.
