Red Lion Controls, the global experts in communication, monitoring and control for industrial automation and networking, today announced the addition of the N-Tron series 1008TX unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switch to its industrial networking solutions portfolio.
The new industrial switch, which offers eight 10/100/1000Base-T(X) ports with support for jumbo frames, features an extended operating temperature and wider power input range than most competitive offerings.
Red Lion's 1008TX is a plug-and-play, unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switch housed in a hardened, metal DIN-rail mountable enclosure designed to provide cost-effective, reliable performance in the harshest industrial environments. Ideal for use in mission-critical data acquisition, security and surveillance, control and Ethernet I/O applications, the 1008TX delivers low latency and high bandwidth to industrial networks.
"Faster, high-volume data and video applications are becoming the norm in industrial networking," said Diane Davis, director of product management, networking at Red Lion Controls. "Users implementing Gigabit Ethernet networks to manage this flow of information will find that our new N-Tron series 1008TX switches cost-effectively deliver reliability and high performance in a rugged, space-saving package."
1008TX switch features include:
- Compact design: 4.6"x 1.5" x 4.0" packaging is ideal for space-constrained applications
- Hardened metal DIN-rail enclosure: built to last in the toughest industrial environments with unmatched tolerance to 50 g shock and 200 g vibration
- Extended environmental specifications: UL Class I, Div. 2 listing, CE and IEC 1613 compliance and a wide -40° to 85°C temperature range guarantees reliability in extreme locations
- Redundant power inputs: 10-49 VDC keeps devices online in the event of a power supply failure
Red Lion announces the release of the GSM Cellular Modem card for the Data Station Plus and Modular Controller Series. This new expansion card allows the Data Station Plus or Modular Controller to communicate via cellular technology, providing unprecedented connectivity for remote and mobile applications.
The Data Station Plus and Modular Controller series already provided cellular connectivity, but only through the use of external third-party modems. By embedding the technology within the interface, Red Lion has created a reliable, easy to configure data management system for remote applications. The expansion module requires a standard network provider "SIM card", allowing customers to choose their own cellular plan.
Once connected to a cell network, customers can take advantage of the powerful feature set. The built-in web server allows customers to monitor and control their processes, while the advanced messaging function dials out to provide early warning of process failures via text messages and email. The integrated IT-Ready data logger records system performance and events for later review. The powerful port-sharing feature even allows many PLCs and other devices to be remotely reprogrammed through the Data Station Plus or Modular Controller for the ultimate in remote system management. The XCGSM card is configured via Red Lion's free Crimson 2.0 software.
Red Lion Control's new CUB5 analogue panel meters are less expensive and less than half the size of most standard 1/8-DIN panel meters. Less panel space and the ability to use smaller enclosures make these meters the perfect solution for any budget. The Red Lion meters are packed full of features: the large 12mm display, optional single or dual setpoint control output modules and optional RS232 or RS485 communication modules allow them to handle even the most demanding applications.

From the dual line, tri-color display to universal power and input capabilities, Red Lion's PAX2 series is packed full of features that set it apart from other panel meters. Field upgradeable option cards for outputs and communications add even more versatility, allowing the PAX2 to deliver an ideal solution for applications requiring two parameters to be visualized at the same time.
The PAX2 series offers the widest range of inputs in the industry. PAX models cover both digital and analog signals including count, voltage, current, process input, rate, strain gage, and thermocouple/RTD inputs.
The PAX2 series offers many features and performance capabilities that are not available on standard panel meters. The digital input meters offer dual count and dual rate meters all in the same package. A third counter and third rate display allows the user to do simple math functions. The optional plug-in output cards allow the opportunity to configure the meter for present applications, while providing easy upgrades for future needs. The analog input meters offer two displays as well, with the top line displaying process and the bottom line showing totalizing or setpoint value.
The PAX2 meters can be fitted with optional field-installable plug-in cards which allow you to configure the PAX2 for present applications, while providing easy upgrades for future needs.
Red Lion DSP Data Station Plus with Multiple Protocol Converter, Data Logger, Web Server & Virtual HMI
The Data Station Plus acts as a nexus for industrial data collection and management. Now features such as data logging, protocol conversion and remote machine monitoring and control can be added to any equipment. With three built-in serial ports and a 10 Base-T/100 Base-TX Ethernet port, the unit performs protocol conversion, allowing disparate devices to communicate seamlessly with one another. The Ethernet port supports up to four protocols simultaneously so even Ethernet to Ethernet conversion may be performed. The CompactFlash card allows data logging of process data from any connected device. The USB port may be used for blazing fast file downloads, or to mount the Data Station's CompactFlash card as an external drive to your PC. The Data Station's DIN rail mounting saves time and panel space and snaps easily onto standard top hat (T) profile DIN rail.
The DSPSX000 and DSPGT000 offers several additional features beyond those offered by the DSPLE000. The CompactFlash card allows data to be collected and stored for later review. The files are stored in simple CSV file format allowing common applications, such as Microsoft Excel and Access, to view and manage the data. The free Websync utility provides a means to synchronize the files with a PCs hard drive for permanent storage.
The built-in Web server allows log files to be retrieved manually, and also provides access to the unique "virtual HMI". The virtual HMI is programmed just like Red Lion's G3 Series of HMI. Any standard Web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape may be used to monitor or control the HMI from a PC anywhere in the world.
Red Lion announces the release of the MPI expansion card for the G3 series HMI. This new card allows the G3 to communicate with Siemens' devices that support MPI, without having to use a converter cable.
The G3 series HMIs, which already offer advanced protocol conversion and data management, now also connect directly to MPI networks. With the release of this new card, users can quickly add MPI connectivity to any G3. The card is simply added to the expansion slot during installation.
With the G3's powerful protocol conversion facility, combined with the standard offering of three serial ports and a multiple-protocol Ethernet port, users can now realize complete system integration.
Red Lion is pleased to announce the release of our new and improved CUB7 line of counters and timers. In updating the CUB7 line, features were combined to reduce the total number of available models from 24 to 12.
The counters and timers are available in two input formats-low voltage (28 VDC max) and high voltage (50 to 250 VAC max), and are offered with three available liquid crystal display options-reflective, red backlight and green backlight.
Enhancements include input DIP switches that allow low voltage models to have sourcing and sinking inputs. All units have front panel keypads that can be used to reset the display.
These keypads can be enabled or disabled via a single DIP switch if no action is needed from the front panel. The standard units are supplied with 22 gauge wires for external connections. An optional terminal block is available for those customers that prefer wiring terminals. Power is provided from an internal lithium battery, designed to provide up to 7 years of trouble-free operation.
