Frequently Asked Questions For Fuji FRENIC-Eco Series ProductsThe Eco comes in a new design as a new constituent of the FRENIC Series, featuring a new product color among them all.
• Having been developed exclusively for the variable torque load, a new series Eco has some differences in specifications and functions, compared to the P11S that was developed on the basis of the G11S.
• Eco, whose capacity range starts from minimum 1HP in consideration of air-conditioning applications, the single inverter series can meet the requirements of a wide range of the load capacity from small to large.
• The Eco does not have a built-in braking transistor circuit or braking resistor connection terminals.
• The Eco supports densely side-by-side mounting, enabling the installation space reduction of multiple units inside switchboards (only for 7.5HP or smaller models used at ambient temperature 40°C(104°F) or lower ).
• The Eco also has another series with semi-standard specifications; EMC filter built-in type and DC reactor built-in type.

What is the Eco's target application or best suited application?

• They are variable torque loads such as fans and pumps.
• Equipped with automatic energy-saving function as standard, the FRENIC-Eco minimizes the motor loss and inverter loss, saving more electricity when used for fans or pumps.
• Simplified electric power monitoring including input power, cumulative watt-hour, and electric energy, can be made on the keypad or through various communications.
• The PID control function necessary for temperature, pressure and flow rate control is provided as standard.
• The cooling fan ON/OFF control function that can stop inverter's cooling fan while the load fan or pump is stopping, enables further noise reduction and energy-saving.
• The Eco promises full compatibility with international standards and complete maintainability.

How can we make commercial line/inverter switching operation?

The Eco has the line/inverter switching function and also a built-in line/inverter switching sequence, which are equivalent to those of P11S. Automatic line-switching-sequence at an inverter fault is built-in to be selected.

Is auto-tuning function available?

Yes, available. When you have to use motors other than Fuji's standard motors, you are strongly recommended to conduct auto-tuning against them in order to get optimum control.

How many control methods can we select?

V/f control method only as the Eco is exclusively for use with variable torque loads.

Is the electric power monitoring done through the keypad only?

Other than the indication on the keypad, through the RS-485 communications and analog output terminals, monitoring is enabled.

Is the auxiliary control power input supported?

Yes, supported. The input terminal for this is provided for all models as standard.

Is automatic energy-saving operation possible?

The Eco, in addition to controls to suppress motor loss to a minimum, keeps the inverter loss to a minimum, thus, you can expect a higher energy-saving effect than ever.

Although we want to set "enable data protection" at F00, changing the value from 0 to 1 is not successful. What should we do?

As this is an important setting, press two keys simultaneously on the keypad to prevent data or setting from being lost by mistake (simultaneous keying)

0 to 1: Press the STOP and "^" keys at the same time to change the value from 0 to 1, then press the FUNC key to store the value.

1 to 0:Press the STOP and "V" keys at the same time to change the value from 1 to 0, then press the FUNC key to store the value.

Although we want to set "data initialization" at H03, changing the value from 0 to 1 is not successful. What should we do?

As this is an important setting, press two keys simultaneously on the keypad to prevent data or setting from being lost by mistake (simultaneous keying)

0 to 1: Press the STOP and "^" keys at the same time to change the value from 0 to 1, then press the FUNC key to initialize all data.

0 to 2:Press the STOP and "^" keys at the same time to change the value from 0 to 1 to 2, then press the FUNC key to initialize motor parameters only. Press the STOP and "V" keys at the same time to change the value from 2 to 1 to 0, then press the FUNC key to fix the data. When initialization ends, the set value automatically returns to 0.

Although we were able to change the setting of the sound tone (F27), the sound tone did not change at all. What should we do?

The sound tone (F27) can only be changed when the carrier frequency (F26) has been set at 7kHz or lower. If a value of over 7kHz has been set, the sound tone (F27) itself cannot be changed even if you can change the setting value of the sound tone.

Is the motor most unlikely to rotate even when the dew condensation prevention function is enabled?

The motor may rotate a little. The rotation will cause few problems taking into consideration mechanical loss. For actual application, perform an action check with the actual machine in advance.

Can the output of lifetime forecast function be received by external devices?

Yes, it can be. Assign transistor output Y1 to Y3, relay output Y5A, Y5C or 30A,B,C with the function code (LIFE).

What does the displayed power consumption value show specifically?

It shows the inverter's input power.

Is Eco's DC REACTOR the same as that for the P11S or Mini series?

You can use the ones designed for the P11S and Mini as they are. A separate Eco series of DC REACTOR built-in type will be released soon. DC REACTOR built-in type will be very much effective for harmonic suppression and man-hour reduction in wiring.

Is a copy unit supported?

• As the standard keypad of the Eco complies with remote control and has copy function, no copy units are necessary.
• The optional multi-function keypad (with backlit LCD screen) has copy function, too.

We plan to install an AC reactor in addition to a DC REACTOR for harmonic suppression. Could the voltage drop have any influence on the output voltage?

As the resistance of AC reactor is very small, there could be no problem on the voltage drop. The effect on the output voltage is negligible.

How does or will the FRENIC-Eco comply with international standards?

All standard FRENIC-Eco inverters, which will be the lots manufactured in summer of 2004 or later, will comply with UL standard/cUL certification of North America and European EN standard/CE marking.

Can we drive two or more motors with a single Eco inverter simultaneously?

Yes, you can. Ensure that the total of rated current of each motor is less than the rated current of the inverter.

Can the Eco generate a frequency output of 400Hz or over, equivalent to those of the G11S or Mini series?

• No, the Eco cannot. The Eco's maximum frequency is 120Hz.
• This is because the Eco has been originally designed for fans and pumps only.

Does the Eco have the explosion-proof approval?

No, it does not have.
